On a beautiful warm September afternoon we held our first ‘Tea with a Pony’ session. Three residents from Galanos House Nursing Home attended with their carers and were sat in our paddock under a gazebo. The home is where our founder, Beryl Sainsbury, spent her last few years, so it was very special that we were joined by Beryl’s daughters, Sarah and Marilyn, and a family friend, Heather, to help. Our riders, Jo and Gill, rode for them in the beautiful sunshine whilst they enjoyed tea and cake. Jill then brought our pony, Jessie, for them to stroke. A lovely experience, bringing back memories for two of their horse riding days and memories of having a terrier for another. They were thrilled to receive a rosette as a momento.
We received a lovely message from Denise, one of the carers, “We had a wonderful time. The residents couldn’t stop talking about it on the way home. Thank you for making us all feel so welcome, you all were amazing including the riders. Give everyone a huge thank you from us and we will definitely be visiting you again. just let us know when you are thinking of doing your next one.”
