Stratford Rotary Club are to hold Virtual Duck Races that will be broadcast on Saturday 29th August at 2 pm probably via Facebook and/or YouTube. Our news is that Clr Tony Jackson, the new Mayor of Stratford, is supporting the event by sponsoring the “Mayor’s Good Causes Gold Cup”. There will be 20 ducks in his race and he has chosen 20 organisations to have their name on a duck and Stratford upon Avon RDA has been chosen as one of them. The race will have a 2 minute race duration so we should hear our name being called. The duck will have Riding for the Disabled written on it (they couldn’t get all our name!) so you will need to keep your eyes peeled! In addition to the Mayor’s Good Causes Gold Cup every duck from every race will also be entered in the last of the day – “Rotary Grand Final”. Please put the event in your diary now, invite your friends or family to either watch at yours, or set up a Zoom call, and share the excitement of watching the races together (probably 7 or 8). Think Henley Regatta in your own home. Also, forward this email to all your friends and family and hopefully lots of people will join in to make this event a huge success. Mayor Jackson will introduce the event highlighting his chosen Good Causes of Volunteers, People with Disabilities and Exercise and Well-Being.
Watch out for the next instalment with more details.
