The Group welcomed back the Chernobyl’s Children charity on Wednesday 7th August for a sixth year. 12 teenagers, all having problems from various cancers due to the nuclear fallout 30+ years ago, arrived at the Stable Yard with their own doctor and translators, where horses and our team of volunteers were ready to take them riding. They were introduced to their horse and learnt to groom. Then the first group went off round the fields into the lovely countryside of the farm. The others spent time decorating horse shoes to take home and played on-foot games until it was their turn to ride. We were thrilled to see them enjoy their experience and even have a go at trotting! They are staying near Solihull whilst undergoing optical, dental and medical check-ups. As well as health checks, the charity organises various fun activities such as biking, horse riding, arts & crafts and picnics and buying them clothes. We look forward to welcoming them back in 2020.
Chernobyl’s Children have a fun morning!
